C3 (Confidential) means Information that must be restricted against unauthorized disclosure beyond a defined set of people (i.e., a “need to know basis” with user ID and password required to access). This includes most of the information supporting core business processes. Public disclosure of this information can have a reputational or financial impact to Roche.

C4 (Secret) means confidential information that requires special protection measures as a disclosure will have a damaging effect on the company, result in high fines or other sanctions (e.g. under GDPR), or in violations of contracts. This information is typically privileged only to a very limited number of persons. Unauthorized disclosure would significantly impact Roche’s future revenue, significantly impact the regulatory status of our products, severely impact the privacy of stakeholders including patients and/or would seriously damage our reputation. Secret information receives the highest levels of protections.
